Death’s cold hand,
reaches out again…
Leaving behind misery,
desolation and pain…
A stark reminder,
of how fragile we are…
Here for a moment,
on a journey to the stars…
As the mortal coil,
is forever unwinding…
This life is for living,
yet we are dying…
By day and by night,
we ignore and pretend…
Whilst we edge closer,
to the bittter end…
Knowing that Death,
is always inches away…
We could dodge for years,
or we could go today…
And at that moment,
when we stop breathing…
When we are shown,
the footage of our deceiving…
Those final flashbacks,
like the movie edits…
All of the sins and
all of our regrets…
We’ll finally understand,
just what was planted…
The gift of our life,
we took for granted…
As we arrogantly wandered,
persistently distracting…
With delusions of grandeur,
whilst seldom respecting…
The power of Death and
all that he brings…
Until it’s too late and
the Angel choir sings…

Thanks for the re:blogs George – hope you are well? Cheers J
My pleasure, indeed. All is well here, despite the heat and humidity, I just learn to avoid it as much as possible. I’m waiting for Autumn ❤ (๑̀ ͜ʖ๑́) ❤ and praying for a little rain each day.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
This poem is a beautiful reminder of the value of life. I only hope when my time comes I will look back and say, “I had a beautiful life.” Until that day I can only enjoy each moment as it is gifted to me. Thank you for sharing!

A stark reminder,
of how fragile we are…Yes, everything- I mean everything is incredibly sensitive, fragile yet resilient, we can only try to imagine. Thank you…
Indeed Rodger – thanks for taking time to comment and glad you connected – Cheers J
Spot on.
A sick bastard like me is always thinking, “So what if she gets killed on the plane this trip, what will I do then?” And, “I really hope they make it home safely. I wonder where they’d like to be buried?”
I won’t even go into my monologues about my own death!
“This life is for living,
yet we are dying…
By day and by night,
we ignore and pretend…
Whilst we edge closer,
to the bitter end…” -try arguing with that!
We are all sick bastards Keith – another universal trait! Cheers J
Wow. You write beautifully.

This is absolutely amazing, J! I need to start reading in your book again, so I can enjoy your work every moment of the day! 🙂 ❤
Thank you – that book feels old now – really should get my finger out and do another ! Cheers J
That would be great! But I still love your ‘old’ book too 🙂
Purgatively beautiful, in an entropic fullness kind of way. Thanks for this, and for visiting my way.
