He’s no longer sure…
If he liked you that much…
He no longer craves…
The warmth of your touch…
The spark has died…
And there is little else left…
What once existed…
Has been laid to rest…
Leaving you a stranger…
No longer part of his dreams…
Like a bit part actress…
That’s seldom on screen…
And stood on the outside…
You’re now looking in…
Wondering how this happened…
Much to your chagrin…
As there was a time…
When he worshiped you…
He believed your lies…
Prayed they were true…
And connected so deep…
You shook his very soul…
Sending his moral compass…
Spinning out of control…
He became your puppet…
The mistress’s servant…
He’d do anything for you…
Even if you didn’t deserve it…
But you turned on him…
Like a vampire craving blood…
You drained his emotions…
Whilst feasting on the flood…
Leaving him searching…
For the sanctuary of shadows…
A hole in the darkness…
Where only he knows…
A place he could think…
Allow his mind to clearly see…
And it granted him freedom…
From your constant misery…

Madman Across the Water is one of my favourite albums. Great choice.
Agree and this song is amazing! Stood the test of time – Cheers J
What delightfully descriptive words about a mundane situation. And nobody got killed! 😉
Mundane is all about perspective I guess! Death at the weekend – come join me 😉 Cheers J

Disillusionment (haiku)
I was held in arms
Loving kind and passionate
I was lullabied
Comforted cajoled
Pacified my tears were wiped
Yes I mattered once
My love was needed
I was someones universe
I dazzled the sky
Was told I’m special
Was told I’m incredible
There’s no one like me
Such a lovely dream
Love story I was living
Disillusioned me!!
All I did was love
Like the only thing I knew
Where did I go wrong
I tried and I cried
Cried till I could cry no more
My tears have gone dry
Pushed back I am now
Retreating my steps once more
Giving you your space
I will love you still
I will never let you fade
Do scatter my ash

Could I please reblog this piece of yours? You have no idea how much I loved it and relate to the lines
Always and anytime – you don’t need to ask! Cheers J
I enjoyed how you drew the reader in feeling sorry for the girl, and then turned it around showing how she was the controlling one. It adds dimension to the poem and is an accurate portrayal of many relationships.
I love reading your comments Claire – so insightful! Cheers J
Simple but effective. Absolutely heart-wrenching!
Thank you for your kind words! Cheers J

Really I do have found some things I like. Ty.
How is it possible that so many of your poems tell my story better than I could tell them on my own? Amazing.
There is an element of universal feeling in most things I write – glad you connected! Cheers J
